This was a cracking start to a series. I have seen all kinds of schools in Middle Grade but this is the first time I have read about a School for Thieves.
JJ's plot and world building were top notch but his characters were something else even if they were side characters. Gabe for me was an excellent choice for a M/C he had his weakness that he could not help pick pocketing he was very loveable, caring and very very intelligent.
Then you have the many mysteries and twists surrounding Marty and here you have a fast paced novel which I had trouble putting down.
For all the above reasons Crookhaven School of Thieves receives 4 stars.
